THE INSPIRATION FOR CJ PAWS BY BRONWYN STANFORD
Zoe was born on approximately March 17th. I met Zoe when I came to Animal Services as a volunteer foster parent for kittens. I was told to go into the kitten room and choose a kitten I’d like to foster. There were about 50 small kittens and I held each one of them and as soon as I held Zoe, I felt something very special. Even though I felt a deep connection to little Zoe, I asked the staff which kitten need of the 50 was the most compromised and needed a foster parent more than the others. Two staff members both pointed to the little black kitten in the bottom of the cage. I have fostered so many kittens over the years and while they are all special, this kitten was so very special. She was so little and so compromised and I have never saw someone so filled with love as little Zoe. Although I had five cats, I knew the minute I took her home that she would be a failed foster…there was no doubt I was keeping Zoe.
I took Zoe and her sister Nala home that day. While Nala thrived, Zoe continued to struggle. Her breathing was always labored and after numerous trips back to see vets, she was finally diagnosed with a serious lung disorder which would required surgery when she reach 3 months old which Animal Services could not afford. I said I would pay for her to have the surgery once she turned 3 months. When I took my own vet, they found she had been misdiagnosed and that she had fluid in her thoraxic cavity. When went to remove it, she expired. I was devastated but vowed to create an organization in her name. In her short little life of nine weeks, Zoe made such an impression on me…she was so special. I have never seen such love as I saw in her eyes when she looked at me. And while she could not be saved, her spirit lives in me and has provided me with the inspiration to create CJPAWS.

BABY NALA ADOPTED- A CJPAWS.ORG SUCCESS STORY !
Nala and her sister, Zoe, were found together on the streets of Miami at only two weeks old with no mother insight. They clearly had not had their mother for a number of days because they were both emaciated and week. They were fostered and Nala gained strength and thrived. At 10 weeks she was adopted by a Hospice nurse who had also adopted Noah from CJPAWS. Noah and Nala are best of friends and just recently moved to Canada with their adoptive mom.
SUCCESS STORY – JAYDEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
SUCCESS STORY- JAYDEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED !
Jayden was feral and lived in one of the most dangerous towns in Miami, Overtown. CJPAWS feeds a group of feral cats in Overtown and has spayed and neutered all of the cats the company feeds. One day we came upon a cat we later named Jayden who had several kittens. We trapped and found homes for her kittens but we could not trap Jayden. One day we notice she was clearly pregnant…this day we were able to trap her. We fostered her until she had her kittens and was able to care for them for 9 weeks. Jayden was adopted by Robin and Elsie of Tampa and they live in a beautiful home on the Tampa River. They also adopted one of Jayden’s previous kittens from a previous litter, Alejandro. Jayden spends her time with her new family looking out at birds and watching boats go by on the river. Jayden lives with her son as well.
